If you’ve ever been to a comedy show, you’ve heard the “dating is like ________” jokes. But this is a new one and we love it. Dating is like marketing!

Via Entrepreneur Magazine, 3 tips for being both a good marketer and a good date:

Focus on them — Don’t talk too much about yourself, ask questions and be interested!

Be real — good marketers are honest about their abilities and promises, and singles should also have honest (aka up to date) photos, be honest about their interests and lifestyle, and straightforward about their expectations.

Read the room — Just like good marketers shouldn’t create generic campaigns, and instead focus on their client’s market and needs, so should a great date. Read your date’s profile and, for example, choose a hiking date for someone who enjoys the outdoors, but NOT a date to a steakhouse if they’re vegan (duh!).
