Turns out those over-the-top moans and heart-attack-like sheet-grabbing might actually be helpful to women in bed! According to a study by researchers at Temple University and Kenyon College, faking an orgasm might actually make women MORE aroused.

Via the Independent:

[The researchers] asked 481 heterosexual females, who were sexually active but not in committed relationships, to indicate how much individual factors influenced their decision to fake an orgasm.

Four motives formed the Faking Orgasm Scale for Women, and were as follows: altruistic deceit (faking it out of concern for a partner’s feelings, fear and insecurity (faking it to avoid negative emotions associated with the sexual experience), elevated arousal (attempting to increase one’s own arousal through faking orgasm), and sexual adjournment (faking orgasm to end sex).

The team found that women were more likely to fake orgasms to turn themselves on, rather than to end sex.

While we still wish that women were 100% sexually satisfied every time, it seems at least a plus that those “OH BABY”s aren’t all about “just getting it over with.” Oddly enough, the study called this motive “selfish,” as though faking an orgasm because you FEEL BAD is better than doing it because it makes you FEEL GOOD. Not sure how we feel about that.
