Coachella Weekend One is finally here and the headliners, The Black Keys, Radiohead, and Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are set to rock crowds with insane shows.
\nBut what about the smaller bands, playing between the hours of noon and 6pm? Who should you look forward to watching? Let OBC guide your way through the endless possibilities:<\/p>\n
1. Fitz and the Tantrums, Sunday, 4:45, Coachella Stage<\/p>\n
This funk group has got it all: hot band, sexy female soul singer, awesome songs. They play Sunday afternoon and are sure to impress. Songs to listen for:<\/b> Moneygrabber, Don’t Gotta Work it Out<\/p>\n
2. Childish Gambino, Saturday, 2:50, Coachella Stage<\/p>\n
AKA Donald Glover, the hilarious song of Danny Glover and star of NBC’s Community moonlights as a hip hop darling. His raps are both hilarious and simultaneously bad ass. Songs to listen for<\/b>: Heartbeat<\/p>\n
3. Gardens and Villa, Sunday, 12:05, Sahara Tent<\/p>\n
This rock band uses tons of instruments and its lead singers fantastic voice to bring its fans into a frenzy of dancing. Sure, it’s on the hottest day at the hottest time of the day, but if you’re feeling daring, check out this band that’s about to hit the big time! Songs to listen for:<\/b> Orange Blossom, Black Hills<\/p>\n
4. Grouplove, Friday, 5:05, Mojave Tent<\/p>\n
You’ve probably heard this band and their poppy hits on commercials, but we’re excited to see how they sound live.. like Fitz and the Tantrums, they feature a female singer among their number, which is always a plus. Songs to listen for<\/b>: Tongue Tied, Colours<\/p>\n
5. Azealia Banks, Saturday, 2:50, Gobi Tent<\/p>\n
This stellar young performer is making waves in the hip hop world for her no-apologies raps about her sexuality (spoiler: she’s a lesbian). At just 20 years old, she’s one of the youngest performers in Coachella’s recent history, and we can’t wait to get our dance on and watch her make the big time.
