However, our excitement turned to fear and shock when Brazilian Marcelo Vieira da Silva J\u00fanior\u00a0accidentally booted in the first goal of the World Cup &#8211; to score for Croatia.<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"http:\/\/player.espn.com\/player.js?pcode=1kNG061cgaoolOncv54OAO1ceO-I&#038;width=576&#038;height=324&#038;externalId=espn:11073428\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The look on Marcelo&#8217;s face basically mirrored ours as we looked around in disbelief &#8211; and worried if Marcelo would be killed DURING or immediately AFTER the game. South Americans take their f\u00fatbol seriously, like, SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY, and this World Cup is already mired in anger over the the whole <a href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Sports\/wireStory\/police-world-cup-protesters-clash-brazil-24103557\" target=\"_blank\">World-Cup-in-a-politically-and-economically-unstable-country thing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, Brazil went on to win against Croatia 3 &#8211; 1, but we&#8217;re still not sure Marcelo is going to make it to her next game against Mexico on Tuesday.
