According to a new study published in the\u00a0Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality,, women are slightly better at labelling casual relationships better than their male counterparts, and researchers believe it’s because the lady has more to lose because in terms of unplanned pregnancies and reputation.<\/p>\n

The study surveyed more than 800 \u201chighly educated\u201d people below the age of 30. An online questionnaire, shared mostly via social media, asked participants about their personal sexual experience, and whether they could pick the correct definition for four terms: One night stand, booty call, f\u2013k buddy and friends with benefits.<\/p>\n

Women performed better across the board, getting it right 96, 92, 81, and 86 per cent of the time, respectively. Men, on the other hand, scored 92, 84, 71, and 75 per cent on the survey.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kind of indoctrinated that casual sex is risky for women. It\u2019s risky from a pregnancy perspective, it\u2019s risky from a violence perspective, and it\u2019s risky from a reputation perspective,\u201d Wentland says.<\/p>\n

As a result, women who have casual sex are more likely to pay \u201creally close attention\u201d to what a relationship is, and what it isn\u2019t.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, what does that mean for those of us who like to partake in casual relationships? Well, for the guys, it means you need to make sure you are super safe, always use a condom, (and don’t EVER argue about it),\u00a0make her feel comfortable, and NEVER use the words “slut” or “whore” when talking about her<\/a>. And for the ladies? Protect yourSELF by taking birth control and making sure he wears a condom, always make sure someone knows where you are when you’re meeting up with a booty call (or one night stand, or f*ck buddy, OR WHATEVER), and treat yourself with respect — knowing your sexual choices don’t make you good OR bad. It’s 2014, girl – go get em.<\/p>\n
