A heat wave is upon the nation, which means the clothes are coming off and people are starting to realize they maaaaybe should have been taking better care of their bodies in the cold of winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BUT there may be some reprieve from the constant body-consciousness of the season – according to some men, their junk might look bigger in the heat of summer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the temperature rises, some men swear the heat has a flattering effect on their peens, adding inches in length and girth down below. Last July, Mel Magazine reporter Tracy Moore<\/a> gave a name to this peculiar seasonal phenomenon: summer penis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSummer penis is a temporary dick fluctuation that, thanks to the heat and warmth, gives you a months-long leg-up on shaft size,\u201d she wrote<\/a>, citing anecdotes from various men. \u201cIt\u2019d be like if a woman\u2019s boobs suddenly got huge from May to August.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In a world of growers and showers<\/a>, consider it nature\u2019s way of bringing some equality to packages everywhere.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

But, is there any scientific evidence supporting the clainm of men everywhere that believe their packages gain size during the warmer months?<\/div>\n\n\n\n

 Aaron Spitz<\/a>, a urologist and author of \u201cThe Penis Book: A Doctor\u2019s Complete Guide to the Penis,\u201d initially scoffed at the idea.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cMy first reaction was, \u2018Oh, boy, here we go again with obsession over size,\u2019\u201d he told us. However, Spitz did admit there could be some truth to the phenomenon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cIt makes sense to me because of the underlying mechanism of how a man\u2019s penis can expand and contract in size,\u201d he said. \u201cThe size of the penis can increase and decrease as a result of the relaxation or contraction of the many tiny blood vessels that comprise the inside of the shaft of the penis.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Warmth, he said, \u201cincreases relaxation of these blood vessels, which increases the blood flow through them, filling out the penis more and giving it a longer, fuller appearance.\u201d (In short, more heat = better blood flow.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

So there ya go! You might not have lost those inches around your waist, but maybe you gained them in your manhood. Silver lining, y’all!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
