1. Women are happier with less attractive men.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Maybe all those CBS shows about\u00a0schlubby leading men\u00a0with hot wives were onto something: A\u00a02017 study\u00a0out of Florida State University found that in successful relationships, the woman is generally more\u00a0\u201caesthetically gifted\u201d than her partner\u00a0? and that women are happier with less attractive men.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the survey, a group of 113 newlywed couples were rated on their individual looks. The researchers found that if the male was less attractive than his wife, he was much more likely to compensate with gifts, sexual favors and doing chores around the house. Unsurprisingly, that lead to higher marital satisfaction for the wife.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

2. If your ex wants to be friends, they might be a psychopath.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
\n

The next time your ex asks \u201ccan we still be friends?\u201d you might want to be wary. In 2016,\u00a0researchers from Oakland University\u00a0in Michigan found that people with the so-called \u201cdark triad\u201d personality traits ? like narcissism and psychopathy ? often\u00a0keep their exes around for calculating, self-serving purposes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A desire for continued sexual access, financial help or a need to still exert some control over a former partner were among key reasons for maintaining contact, especially for men, according to the study.<\/p>\n

3. We might be in the middle of a millennial \u201csex recession.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
\n

In December 2018, the\u00a0Atlantic ran a cover story\u00a0with a hyper-dramatic headline: \u201cThe Sex Recession: Why Young People Are Retreating From Intimacy ? And What This Means For Society.\u201d Drawing on a\u00a02017 study led by psychologist Jean M. Twenge\u00a0and data from the\u00a0General Social Survey (GSS),\u00a0the story suggested that\u00a0today\u2019s young adults are on track to have fewer sex partners\u00a0than members of the two preceding generations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

People in their early 20s were two-and-a-half times as likely to be abstinent than Gen Xers were at that age, the story said, and 15% reported having had\u00a0no<\/em>\u00a0sex since they reached adulthood.<\/p>\n

4. Most of us are trying to date out of our league.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Swipe right, even if you\u2019re doubtful that Chris Hemsworth lookalike will do the same for you. According to a study published in August 2018 in the journal Science Advances, users of online dating sites spend\u00a0most of their time trying to contact people out of their league.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Researchers reviewed thousands of messages exchanged on an unnamed \u201cpopular, free online-dating service\u201d between nearly 200,000 straight men and women.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After a month of careful observation, they found most online daters tend to message people exactly 25% more desirable than they are (with desirability determined by how many messages a user received during the month).<\/p>\n

5. That sexual afterglow you feel after sex lasts 48 hours.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

You\u2019re generally in a better mood after sex, thanks to a\u00a0flood of endorphins and other feel-good hormones\u00a0released post-climax ? aka, sexual afterglow.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
