VIA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/04\/17\/opinion\/sunday\/sex-stds-stis-covid.html\">NYT:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Recall that after the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, the \u201920s roared as a generation made up, Gatsby-like, for lost time. Nicholas Christakis, a physician and a professor of sociology at Yale, has already\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2020\/dec\/21\/epidemiologist-1918-flu-pandemic-roaring-20s-post-covid\" target=\"_blank\">predicted a possible uptick<\/a>\u00a0in what he called \u201csexual licentiousness\u201d by 2024. We wouldn\u2019t be quite so judgy, and what\u2019s more, partying never fully stopped during the pandemic. (Many college campuses were virus hot spots.) Still, it\u2019s certainly plausible that once the masks come off, 21st-century youth will try to compensate for what they\u2019ve missed by doubling down on party and hookup culture.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Man, the Roaring 20s again? Flapper outfits and steamy speakeasy hookups? Yes Please. Just remember &#8211; protect yourself and others by using condoms!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Once the pandemic is finally behind us, Covid-driven funding for health department infrastructure and contact tracers should be maintained and redirected toward creating robust S.T.I. control programs in every state, including expanding access to publicly funded sexual health services.
