The divorce rate has been sky-high for years, but until recently, people kept on getting married. According to the recent census, though, this phenomenon may actually be coming to and end. According to US Census data, “the U.S.\u00a0marriage rate<\/a>\u00a0has declined from more than eight marriages per 1,000 down to six marriages per 1,000 population in 2019. That marriage rate is the\u00a0lowest level<\/a>\u00a0since the U.S. government began keeping marriage records for the country in 1867.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although some folks are absolutely up in arms, believing this is the end of the world as we know it, we’re not so sure — in fact we see it as people finally understanding that you don’t need to promise marriage just to get a date, or even EVER promise marriage. Perhaps we finally understand that monogamy might not be right for every single person, and that instead we can enjoy relationships as they come without needing to legally bind ourselves to each other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
