A new study seems to show that the &#8220;somatosensory cortex&#8221; in the brain was more developed in women who frequently have intercourse. <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2021\/12\/28\/study-says-women-who-have-more-sex-have-better-developed-brains-15831440\/\">Via Metro:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the research,&nbsp;female volunteers \u2013 between the ages of 18 and 45 \u2013 had their clitorises stimulated by a vibrating object placed above their underwear, while their brains were scanned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers also asked female volunteers how frequently they had had sex over the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the device vibrated, the somatosensory cortex region of the brain was activated.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Researchers then measured the thickness of that brain area, finding it was bigger in females who reported having more sex.<\/p><p>\u2018We found an association between the frequency of genital intercourse and the thickness of the individually mapped genital field,\u2019 explains study co-author Dr. Christine Heim \u2013 a professor of medical psychology at Charite University Hospital in Berlin.<\/p><p>So to put it simply: the more sex, the bigger the region of the brain.<\/p><p>Of course, this isn\u2019t the first study to look into the benefits of sex on the brain.<\/p><p>Back in 2016, scientists at McGill University in Canada found young women who have regular sex have an easier time remembering things than their less sexually active counterparts.<\/p><p>It\u2019s good news for men, too.<\/p><p>That same year,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/ageing\/article\/45\/2\/313\/2195326?login=true\" target=\"_blank\">another study<\/a>\u00a0also found that older guys who have regular sex have better \u2018brain health\u2019 and are less likely to lose memory.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>So, if your 2022 resolutions include getting smarter, remember &#8211; more sex = bigger cortex! <\/p>\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-27218\" data-postid=\"27218\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-27218 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We all know the countless benefits of sex, but here&#8217;s a new one &#8211; women who have more sex may have more developed brains.
