If you’ve ever visited a brick-and-mortar sex store, or even just browsed online, you’ll know there is a RAINBOW of options for dildos, vibrators, and everything in between – but there seem to be one color that shows up more often: purple! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over at VICE<\/a>, a writer contemplated the question of why so many sex toys are purple, and started to research, finding that lots of people were asking the almighty Google the same question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everything from \u201cwhy purple is sexy\u201d to \u201cwhy sex toys are shaped like animals\u201d has been thought of, considered, and left in the rearview mirror of cultural assessment.\u00a0On Twitter<\/a>, someone even asked this very question nearly 12 months ago.\u00a0Do the ladies just love purple?\u00a0<\/a>Asks one Reddit user. \u201cWe\u2019re just wet for Grimace\u201d comes the reply.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Then the writer looked into color psychology, learning that<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…purple is synonymous with female power, that purple is the colour of modern feminism. They claim that purple suggests a departure from the gender binary, is the colour of your 6th chakra, and has an association with royalty & Cadbury (interchangeable). It\u2019s associated with wealth, spirituality, magic & arrogance.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

However, it might be more basic than that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A friend, who used to work in an adult store, tells me that so many sex toys are purple because it\u2019s gender neutral: pink (girl) x blue (boy) = purple (gender neutral). Perhaps this is the case? The maths checks out.\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
