I happen to have a good friend whose birthday falls of day one of the World Cup, and because of my new found love (confused curiosity) of "footy," I casually suggested we throw a World Cup themed party for our friend -- record the first game in the morning and then watch it at night, divided into teams, and utilizing the drinking game we mentioned a week ago. Now it's true, the phrase "American soccer fan" is often considered an oxymoron, however, a recent report by the Washington Post shows that when planes start landing in South Africa full of soccer fans, the United States will actually outnumber those from Germany, Brazil, and England.

The Washington Post article paints an interesting picture of American soccer fans -- that many support other teams (mostly Latin American teams), that some are travelling alone without tickets, just hoping to get in, and then of course -- some 27-year-old dude who shows up to matches wearing a Captain America costume. Real cute, bro.
