Man Ordered to Pay Ex $14,000 For Lack of Sex
Now, that’s not something you hear every day: according to Gawker, a French man named Jean-Louise (hahaha! seriously?!) is being ordered to pay his ex-wife 10,000 euro (or about $14,000) for not having sex with her enough during their marriage!
After divorcing her husband two years ago, the defendant’s ex-wife must have decided she had not been compensated enough for her depressing 21-year-long marriage, and took Jean-Louise to court for the “lack of sex.” Via Gawker:
The ex-husband claimed “tiredness and health problems” had prevented him from being more attentive between the sheets.
But a judge in the south of France’s highest court in Aix-en-Provence ruled: “A sexual relationship between husband and wife is the expression of affection they have for each other, and in this case it was absent.
In the two lines quoted from this news story, I am convinced that
a) it could not be a more stereotypically French story unless there was a mime and a baguette involved,
b) Reason #499 not to get married has been found: your ex-wife might publicly sue you for not boning her enough even though you worked really hard to ensure your financial stability and had been plagued with health problems that lowered your libido, that evil b****.
